PROFILE
Jack is a nationally certified planner and North Carolina registered professional engineer
with prior professional experience in local government planning, land surveying, and
management of private development projects. Academically educated in both the social
and technical aspects of land planning and civil engineering design, Jack operates from
a strategically generalist viewpoint and works best in a collaborative team environment.

Principal, The Design Response (Cary, NC) — 2001- Present
President and lead planner/designer for a land planning and urban design firm with a
primary focus on private development projects located within the greater Triangle area.


Practice Builder, Kimley-Horn and Associates (Cary, NC) — 1996-2001
Principal designer/planner for a multi-disciplinary planning and engineering design team
focused on private development projects located within the greater Triangle area and
throughout the Carolinas, Virginia, and Georgia regional area.


Director of Planning, McAdams (RTP, NC) — 1985-1996
Founded and developed a mid-sized planning department within a growing civil
engineering firm with projects in the greater Triangle area and throughout the Carolinas
for various regional development clients. Served as senior project manager for large
development projects while managing other project managers and design support staff.


Partner, Michael S. Nixon & Associates (Reidsville, NC) — 1981-1983
Partner in a land surveying firm with a practice focused on large tract boundary surveys,
topographic surveys, lot and loan surveys, and the preparation of recorded plats.
